FEATURE | Mystical utopia beyond parables: Mt. Banahaw in the face of a pandemic threat

For many, the panorama of Mt. Banahaw is a plain student's emblem of the university; a stomping ground for outdoor-enthusiasts; a haunt for devotees; and a center for scientific research. Sadly, we have less knowledge of what this mountain is capable of.

Barely anyone knows anything about the mountain, except about what is told by textbooks and the internet. Well, no one could tell its first ascent. Although a handful has got to know deeper, yet what some knows is that it is obscured with mysteries, and sadly it's all that there is—mystery.

Amidst the continuous degradation due to climate change and human activities, this is what the real mystery is: Mt. Banahaw will just remain as a mere symbolism of devotion, achievement, and adventures; not unless everyone starts to believe that it is no less than a paradise.

A decade later, Mt. Banahaw still stands in the very same spot, resonating the perils Alcedian X bespoke. This time, blades promising progress creep along its slopes, threatening the fragile balance of life.
